Physician engagement is closely related to strong physician leadership. With demand for physician leaders greatly exceeding supply, however, healthcare organizations face a dilemma: Many physicians simply have no interest in leaving their clinical practices, yet many are capable of providing great leadership in their organizations. The mistake many organizations make is trying to build a leadership model with full-time physician leaders. This session will explore how several organizations have successful addressed the need for more physician leaders and enhanced engagement using full-time clinicians in leadership roles.
